In our normal life, we used different types of sensors that are commonly used in various application.
All these sensors are used for measuring one of the physical properties like Temperature(T), Resistance(R), Capacitance(C), Conduction, Heat transfer(H) etc.
What is Sensor?
A sensor is a device that measures a physical quantity and converts it into an electricals signal that can be read by a supervisor or a device. For example, a thermometer of a mercury-filled glass converts the measured temperature into the expansion and contraction of a fluid which can be read on a calibrated glass tube.

A temperature sensors is a device, typically, a thermocouple or RTD, that provides for temperature measurement through an electrical signal.
We can say that temperature sensors is a device that detects and measure hotness and coolness and converts it into an electrical signal.
There are different types of temperature sensors like LM35IC, Thermistors, Thermocouples, RTD etc.
Temperature Sensors are used everywhere like computers, mobile phones, automobiles, air conditioning systems, industry etc.
An infrared sensors (IR) is an electronic device, that emits in order to sense some aspect of surroundings.
An IR sensor can measure the heat of an object as well as detect motion.
These types of sensors measure infrared radiation only, rather than emitting it that is called a Passive IR sensor.
Application of IR sensors is mobile phones, Robots, Industrial assembly, automobiles etc.
A proximity sensor is the one which finds the presences of objects without any contact with objects.
It will emit electromagnetic radiationsand find the changes in the reflected signal if any.
Proximity sensors are used in a machine for measuring vibration in the machine. it can measure the variation in distance between a shaft and its support bearing also.
An application of proximity sensors is large steam turbines, compressors, and motors that use sleeve type bearings.
A Pressure sensor is used for the measurement of pressure of gases and liquids.
Pressure is one type of force, it will stop a fluid from expanding. Pressure is simply a force per unit area.
Pressure sensor usually working like a transducer. it makes a signal as a function of the pressure imposed.
The pressure sensor can also measure fluid or gas flow, speed, water level, and altitude.
A Level sensor is measure the level of any liquid in closed system or open system.
Two types of level measurement
Point Level measurement
Continuous measurement is used for the precise measurement. it gives the correct results.
Point level sensor is measure the level of liquid which is high or low.
An Ultrasonic sensor is used to find out the distance of an object with the help of ultrasonic sound waves.
Here transducer is used to send and receive ultrasonic pulses that relay back information of any object distance.
Application of ultrasonic sensors is measuring the wind speed and direction, the fluid level in tank or channel, speed in air or water.

Smoke and Gas Sensors
Gas and smoke sensors are used for detect leakage of gas and senses smoke. basically, it is an indicator of fire.
Smoke alarm generally used in kitchen, factory, hospital, big buildingetc. its also known as fire alarm. Gas detector used to find leakage of gas in company or house(LPG), etc.
Tactile sensors are also one type of touch sensors. That was sensitive to touch, force, or pressure. It was very simple and used in everyday life. it’s working like a simple switch.
When we touch the sensor the circuit will be closed and current is flowing through the circuit. after release touch, the circuit is opened and no current is flowing.
Application of the touch sensor is very wide. used in a smart home, security purpose, attendance system etc.
An accelerometer is used to measure the acceleration forces, some forces are static like gravity, it can measure vibration and movement force also.
Accelerometer is used in smartphone, gyroscope and in Arduino projects.
A light sensor converts the “light energy” into “electrical signal”. Its generally also called as a “Photoelectric devices“.
As per the name of the sensor, it will detect the color of the surface of any objects.
Application of this sensor to detects the environment, choosing the right product and sorting purposes.
A humidity sensor (or hygrometer) measures relative humidity in the air. It measures both moisture and air temperature.
Relative humidity is the ratio of moisture present in the air to the maximum amount of moisture that can be held at that air temperature.
A Tilt sensor is used to measure the tilting of any object with any reference surface or fixed surface. So it will measure the inclination or orientation of an object.
